Sam Bowman

Sam Bowman is a marine biologist and aquaculture pioneer with over 40 years of leadership experience in the global seafood industry. Based on the Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada, he is the founder of the Blue Economy Consulting Group, which provides strategic and tactical advice in aquaculture, seafood marketing, and business development in North America. Sam has worked in senior management roles for industry leaders, including Mowi, Cermaq, Skretting and Nutreco and has served on multiple private and public boards, such as the BC Salmon Farmers Association and AquaNet, Canada’s Centre of Excellence for aquaculture research.

With expertise spanning aquaculture technology, supply chain management, and product development, Sam has been instrumental in advancing sustainable practices in both freshwater and marine environments. His consulting work supports businesses, NGOs, and government agencies in applying science and innovation to produce healthy protein sustainably, while addressing challenges in seafood production, marketing strategy, and environmental stewardship.
